COCONUT SUGAR SCRUB

Now that Spring is here it's time to pull out the sandals and start shedding the layers. I found a recipe for a lemon sugar scrub. I decided to replace the olive oil with coconut oil and I prefer the results. See recipe below.

Ingredients:
1 tbs lemon juice (½ fresh lemon)
½ cup brown sugar
1 tbs coconut oil
1 tbs organic honey
1 small tupperware container with lid

Ingredient Benefits:
Lemon juice-  a natural source of vitamin C; an ingredient that is commonly used to lighten sun and age spots to even out skin tone. It’s astringent properties help to tighten pores.
Sugar- a natural exfoliator which helps to clean pores and remove dead skin cells leaving skin smoother.
Coconut Oil- It’s deep moisturizing properties rapidly hydrate, condition and shield the skin from moisture loss. Coconut oil’s anti-oxidant properties help skin repair itself.
Honey- a natural humectant which helps lock in moisture and keep skin hydrated. Honey’s antibacterial properties help avoid breakouts.

To Make:
Add the lemon juice and coconut oil to your tupperware and mix. Add the honey and wisk until the ingredients bind together forming a medium thick consistency. You can add or subtract the amount of coconut oil and honey based on how thick you prefer your scrub. Add the sugar, mix and you’ve got yourself a natural face and body scrub. I kept mine in the shower for a few days and used it all over. For use on my face I scrubbed lightly for a min or so and let the scrub remain on my face for an additional 7-10 min before rinsing. This made my face feel extra soft.

GRATER EARRING DISPLAY

I had been looking for a clever way to display my earrings when I stumbled accross this cheese grater at an antique shop. I sprayed it with Rust-Oleum Matte Clear to add a barrier between the earrings and grater. My dispay currently hangs from an unused towel rack. You can also use a rectangular free standing cheese grater for a countertop display. I have seen others use colored spray paint. I preffer the antique distressed look.

SPRING CLEANING

I am a bit neurotic when it comes to cleaning. This is why every year around spring time I clean the fireplace and restage it for next winter. Spray Nine makes a great fireplace cleaner. It can be purchased here. You will need the following: Spray Nine Fireplace Cleaner, gloves, dobe or scotch brite and a bucket for clean water. Spray the soot stained areas with a generous amount of Spray Nine Fireplace Cleaner and let soak for a few minutes. Meanwhile fill a bucket with warm water. Using your dobe or scotch brite lightly scrub the soot stained areas making sure to clean in between with warm water. You will need to repeat this until you are satisfied with the results.

BEAUTY BIN

I recently purchased these small translucent storage baskets from Storables. They are the perfect size for organizing beauty products. I seperated my facial supplies, body skin care, hair products, etc. This way I can grab one container to find what I need rather than scrambling through all of my products and risking the domino effect when I finally knock one over. Below is my facial supplies bin with a list of my current products. Happy organizing!
